Volunteering in an organisation in the South is a unique experience!
Traveling, experiencing a new culture, connecting with the local people.
Meeting other volunteers and travelers.
In addition, you will work on a project that gives underprivileged children the opportunity to study.
Fighting social inequality and poverty through education and training.
That is the mission of Oye LENA. Because every child deserves equal opportunities.

As Coordinator of the Toddlers you organize the lessons of the toddlers.
Developing themes, preparing lessons, organizing corner work, thinking about group activities, etc.
You help to make the timetables and divide the tasks of the team.
Support with the organization of special events such as Christmas, birthdays, etc.
Helping to keep the godparents informed of the children’s development.
You help volunteers with their preparations and guide students during their internship.
You support where necessary with administrative tasks.

You will join a team of alternating volunteers from different countries and a permanent team.
The permanent team consists of several Peruvian teachers, a physiotherapist, a permanent cook and a driver. The entire project is managed by its founder, Stefanie Van Erps, originally from Belgium and living in Peru for 10 years now.

Start date: as soon as possible 😊

For this position, it is important that you are active on the project for at least 10 months.
The first month you will be guided by the previous responsible, the last month you will train the next coördinator.

Searched Profile:

You speak English or Dutch and have a decent knowledge of Spanish.
You know how to get things done.
You can differentiate, remediate and respond to specific needs.
You have good communication skills.
You are a team player and can lead a team.
You are flexible and independent.

Accommodation

Volunteers who arrange their accommodation through Oye LENA can get a room at the volunteerhouse of Casa Lena, 15 minutes from the centre of Curahuasi by foot. There are private rooms and shared rooms. The bathroom, kitchen and living room are shared. The project takes place in the classrooms on the ground floor of the building.

If friends or family are coming to visit you, they can stay in a hotel in the village or in the Casa Lena B&B. The B&B has three rooms, each with a private bathroom and a shared kitchen and terrace. Volunteers and visitors can also ask Casa Lena for tours in Curahuasi and its surroundings (canyoning, puenting, river tubing, horseback riding and so on).
